  • EH Wiggler repair, schematic?

I've got an EH wiggler pedal here for repair and am looking for a schematic (or suggestions).

The mains tx on the board is working fine and it's stepping up the voltage as expected to the bridge rectifier - getting around 350v out the diode bridge, so voltages seem fine (it's a tube pedal). The 12v voltage regulator feeding the heaters is working fine too.

Without the schematic its tough to trace the signal path like in a 9v fuzzbox, when you're talking 350vdc you're a bit more careful about what you're poking round at

Ideas or link to a schematic?

Well, what's wrong with it? You forgot to say.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

ahh, yeah, thats helps doesn't it, ha ha

its an intermittent fault. the pedal works fine, then I tap on the board and it crackles like mad and then the output goes mental loud and distorted, but the trem/vibrato doesn't trem or vib anymore.

I've got the schem from EH today and it looks easy enough to follow...

the trouble is, when I now flex the pcb or prod it (with a wooden stick of course) to try and make the circuit act up, it doesn't do anything - just the same distorted LOUD sound.

        1. Have you tried new tubes? The *first* thing to do on any tube equipment repair is to replace tubes with known-good ones. There's a reason they're in sockets and not soldered in.
        2. Resolder all the solder joints just to be sure.
        3. Prod/flex the controls and wires.
        4. Wiggle the tubes in their sockets. Most likely the second tube. Possibly a socket going bad.
Amazing!! Who would ever have guessed that someone who villified the evil rich people would begin happily accepting their millions in speaking fees!

Oh, wait! That sounds familiar, somehow.

Check the top board where the pots are mounted to.
I have seen problems there at the pot solder joints.
I have seen them pushed out of the traces when the unit was put together.

            thanks for the help all,

I've tried all the circuit disturbance tricks, but will additionally try swapping the tubes and re-flowing ALL of the solder joints.

will report back in a day or two (trying to fit this in between an AC30CC and a JCM800 that are both screwed and needed for gigs at the weekend).

ok, scrap all that - prize for pointing out the obvious first check goes to RG (it was a bad 12AX7).

thanks for the help all, much appreciated.
