  • MXR phase 100 script

Just brought back to life this MXR phase 100. How much do you guys think it's worth? It's pretty beat up cosmetically.

Howdy, I'm the guy that bought this pedal off of ebay from you a couple weeks ago. I was surprised to see the picture of it here. I don't mind the beat up look, but am wondering about some possible performance issues. It seems to be noisier that the old phase 90 I had, the sweeping motion really comes thru when the volume is rolled of on the guitar, also, there seems to be a noticeable volume decrease when the pedal is engaged.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm to be honest I didn't really notice the noise because I've never owned any other phase 100 or phase 90 so I don't really have anything else to compare it to. The fix was stupidly easy, there was just a capacitor missing so I put one in, the same one the original schematic called for. I have however noticed noise issues with older pedals in general. I don't know what they did differently. I know most of them (including the one you bought) don't have true bypass. True bypass can be added but I didn't do it for the sake of keeping the pedal as original as possible. That's as much as I can tell you, my knowledge is pretty limited in this area.

Oh and as far as the volume drop goes, I've noticed that too with older pedals. My old MXR blue box has a volume drop. There are ways to fix it ( as well as the noise) but I'm not experienced enough. I know a lot of the guys on this forum are knowledgeable about that. Wish I could be more help.
