Wha's a good NPN transistor for an output buffer?

I guess any of them ought to work, but if anyone can recommend one that sounds better than the others, you'll have my gratitude. It's for an overdrive pedal. It will be driving a load of either 100k or 10k.

If anyone's following, I got a 2N4401 from Radio Shack and it works well.
