  • wh-1 problem, need some pro advices

    hello
this is my first post on the web
hope you guys can help me with this problem
i'd bid for a pedal on december
    after waiting for a month+
the wh-1 arrived at my doorstep
i opened the package and just plug it on
and then the adapter start to burn
so i looked at the power source
    read the spec
input for the adapter is 120v but here in malaysia we use 240v for home outlet
supposed to read it first before plug the pedal
    anyway
    i used my other adapter
the one that can support malaysian home outlet
it was harman pro 240v input and 9v/1300mA output
    the pedal function
but i felt like the pedal is heating up
right on the input for power supply area
i went to check the pedal at local electrical store
they said the voltage regulators might need a replacement
i wonder maybe someone more professional here can help with my problem
should i look for a new parts?
do i need to find some vintage parts for this effect?
will it effects the tone of the pedal?
    thank you

does anyone here have the scematic drawing fror wh-1, really appreciate your kindness

    hello
i just bought a wh-1 from ebay last month
the pedal has arrived on my doorstep last friday
it was a quiet deal though
the seller sent me a harman pro 120v input adapter
i didn't noticed about this, i thought it used 240v input adapter just like here
    after switch on the pedal
    the adapter start to burn
i quickly pull the adapter because worrying anything happen to the pedal
after that i went to a local guitar store at my place
and send the pedal for a check
the next day the technician told me that the voltage regulators on whammy's circuit board kinda short out because of the adapter that seller gave me
so i need a schematic for reading the circuit
can anyone here please help me
    please
we gotta help this whammyless guy

      Hi umair.
*Maybe* you got lucky and only the regulators shorted, without further damage.
Replace them and check the unit.
If you have a Variac, better, start with very low voltage and rise it slowly.

        can i ask you something?
did voltage regulators meant to get heat up?
the pedal did work but i have to replace the adapter for purpose
i used the exact adapter that can support 240v home output current
after a few second, the pedal is heating up right on the power input area
because the voltage regulators are glued on the back side of the body
        some said it's usual
but it's like you can fry an egg on it

          Hi umair.
Regulators do heat up, because they are "lossy" and "eat" the voltage difference, but "frying eggs" (in practice: unbearable to human hand) is not normal.
Get a multimeter, post here what the WH1 power jack says, what the user manual says (google for one if you don't have it) and what your 240V to żż?? says.
The important thing is your expensive pedal (still)works, let's keep i that way, don't use it until the problem is solved.
Post a couple pictures, showing the power jack and any labels close by, the power adapter, and if you opened your WH1, a couple closeups of the regulator area.
