fuzz face clone noise

I built a fuzz face clone, it sounds great except for one thing, when turn the fuzz gain pot open to full gain there's a low noise in between playing. It's at the very top end of the pot , about an 1/8" or a bit more, anywhere less on the dial it's fine.
Does anyone have any ideas? The pot?
THis pedal sat on my bench without an enclosure for about 1 or more, the only thing I replaced were the transistors, it's using 2N5089.

At max gain, you are going to get hiss, But it sounds like you are getting internal feedback. Perhaps it's parts plscement or wire placement? Input wire too close to an output?

thanks for the input; ) It's a pretty small enclosure, like the MXR, so I guess I'll try bending the ends of the switchcraft jacks.
