  • Pedal boost?

Hi all new to this forum. I'm currently in a band and not been gigging for long now (about 1 year) .Play lead guitar - rock/blues style. Thing is i am going to upgrade soon from a Solid State amp to my first Tube amp (probably a Laney lc30) and i currently use a Boss blues driver and a Crappy Behringer graphics pedal as my solo boost . Seem to be havin problems getting the right levels when trying to cut through for solos and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for the right pedal set up. I was thinking about a volume pedal and just using the Boss through the clean channel with an added Delay as well. Dont really Know as i am still trying to learn the game so to speak !! any help would be appreicated .

    Pedal setup

Ideally you would want to put the driver before the amp input.
Graphics, volume boost pedals should be inserted in the effects loop.

If you put the boost before the boss, you won't get much volume boost for leads, even if you use the guitar volume to clean it up. I wound up building a volume box with two controls, one for rythm and one for lead. It basically worked, but i found myself fidgiting with the controls for the whole first set to achieve volume bliss. A volume pedal makes sense if you can globally adjust the range it has (instead of completely off to full on), and then set it up after the distortion. I find volume pedals a little difficult to use for instant change though.
