Matchless hot box build?

I'm wanting to build a matchless hot box and I was wondering if the transformer 6.3v windings need to be center tapped?

I'm not a tube-guru, but just a quick check of 3 different schematics shows 2 with a c.t. on the heater winding and one without. I would have thought that there is no need of a c.t. on a 6.3V heater winding (yes, if it's a 12.6V winding), but someone with more knowledge may have a justification for it. For what it's worth, I would not worry about it and implement the 100 Ohm hum-balance resistors (or better yet - a 100 Ohm pot with center wiper to ground). Anybody more knowledgeable want to chip in?
