Boss DD-5 issues

Has anyone had trouble using a common tap tempo with 2 DD-5's and a Nova Delay? I had them together with a Y cable and all was good, until I took the Nova away and now I can't get either DD-5 to work correctly. When the tap tempo is connected the delays randomly speed up, slow down, do patterns they aren't actually able to do...

It doesn't matter if only 1 is connected, or both together to the tap. I've tried other tap tempo pedals too, and cables. No dice.

Any suggestions?
