  • How to wire in a rectifier diode?

I'm building a pedal to act as a bypass loop, and want to put in an LED to be able to tell if the loop is in bypass or not.

The LED packaging stated that I need to use a rectifier diode if I plan on powering via AC. SO my question is, how does the diode wire in? Do I connect from the swtich to the anode, or cathode or both (with 2 rectifiers)?

    Thanks!

How complicated is your bypass loop? I would think that in most cases where a novice builds one (and it is one of the projects I recommend most often to folks just getting into the DIY hobby), we're basically talking about an LED powered by an onboard 9v battery or perhaps by a pedalboard power-supply, rather than by AC.
