  • Pod XT live with a tube amp

Hey everyone, first of all thank you to those who helped me fix my tube amp from this forum.

I have a b-52 at-100 fully retubed with JJ's, sounds great but I'm interested in running my pod xt for the effects on it. The tube screamer sounds sweet on my amp but I've been told its very easy to overload your preamp tubes by running it in the effects loop. I've also been told that it's very easy to overload your preamp tubes from running it in the input jack.

My question is how do you find that sweet spot where the volume is just right on both the pod, and the effects loop? I just dropped 180 bills on these tubes and I'm not trying to buy more lol.

    Rest easy.
There is not much, in the way of ill effects, that can happen if you 'overdrive' the preamp tubes.
If it sounds crappy, turn down the gain. (amp, loop, pod...)

Running it in the effects loop would insert it AFTER the preamp, so it would affect nothing in the preamp, including tubes.

That's what a distortion/overdrive pedal is made for, and where it should go.

Effects loops are NORMALLY used for effects like delay, chorus, etc. NORMALLY, distortion-type pedals are not run in the effects loop.
