a signature sound stomp box

Hi ,can anyone desing a stomp box with character ,one like the signature sound of enter sandman ,for example,i know a little electronics ,but dont know where to start.How about signature sound stomp box .There are so many stompboxes that need also the amp combine to give that sound ,not like those digital emulators.
