  • Alez Lifesons sound on (All the worlds a stage Album)

    Hey Folks,

I wanted to ask what maestro phaser Alex was using on the All the worlds a stage Album? was it the MP-1? Alex's swooshy sound on the cleaner parts of his playing sounds so good and his tone is awesome.

I know he was using 50 watt Marshalls back then and the 4x12 cabs with greenbacks but not sure what his pedals were...

    Thanks

supposed to be a PS-1, but most any Maestro/Mutron/MXR phaser of that era should be close enough IMO

This says it's the MP1, but who knows if they are right? Maestro MP1

I have an original MP1, and no other phaser that I've used sounds anything like it. Mine has very little high-end "swooshing" sound. It's more "round". Instead of "whswish...whswish...whswish"...I get "rhayoon...rhayoon...rhayoon...".

It's a mainstay in my pedal board. It covers "chorus" on slower speeds, and "Leslie", with the speed controlled by foot. I love this thing. It's particularly good with clean. It sounds nothing like the old MXR of a friend's, and I don't know about the PS1 or the Mutron, etc., though.

No other phaser pedal I have comes close.
