Line6 POD2 DIY Floorboard, help needed

Hello,

After reading the informative pages at www.harmonicappliances.com about the Floorboard for POD2, I have built a volume pedal (prototype) and connected it to my POD using a standard patch cable. Please look at the attached pdf-file. Pin 2, 5 and 6 are not connected.


When I gradually block the IR-beam between the LED and the photo transistor the voltage on pin 4 varies from 0.2 to 4.5 V as it should.
However the volume on the POD doesn't change, and the text "EDITED" does not appear on the POD display.

Is there another catch; does the POD require som kind of trig signal to recognize the floorboard/volume pedal?

I would be greatful for some suggestions or help of any kind.

Do you have pins 7 and 8 shorted together? And do you have pins 1 and 3 shorted together? Don't know if it matters, but if say pin 1 was ground, and pin 3 was an ident input, then teh thing might not watch the pedal port until pin 3 was grounded. Or something like that.

Give pin 6 a 20k pulldown in case THAT is what tells the POD of the pedal's presence.

And the simplest thing of all, go inside the POD and make sure the control voltage you make actually gets somewhere in there.

Thanks for your suggestions. Pins 7-8 and 1-3 are shorted (probably to get more cable area and less voltage reduction, I think those are the "power lines")
I tried pulling inputs on the POD that measure 0 V to +5V, and vice versa.
Guess I have to try and check the internal connections in the POD.
Maybe the control voltage has to always remain well over 0 Volts and well under +5 Volts, say 0.4 - 4.5 Volts?
I suppose it's to much to hope for a hint from Line6 support?

In the good old days most electronic devices was delivered with an electric scheme, I liked that.

Tried the whole thing all over again.
Must have wired something wrong the first time.........
20 k pulldown (permanent) at pin 6 did the trick.
Changed the LED resistor to 270 ohms and moved the LED and phototransistor closer together (distance = 5mm) to get enough output voltage.

I would detect the serial data message from pod to it's floorboard, I can't understand how the clock to strobe serial message is detected from serial data...
Can you help me?
Someone has the schematic of the circuit in pod floorboard

I heard there are 7414 inverter that uses the pulse width to generate the clock and data signals needed by the 74HC595 shift (serial to parallel data) registers inside older Line FB4 pedal. Maybe all Line6 floorboards use the same method
I have Spider 30 schematic and there are only tx and rx signals from amp PIC UART and postitive power supply voltage and ground connected to RJ45 for foot pedal.
