  • Matching FET's

    Hello,

I'm brand new to this forum, but I've been lurkin' around here several times before. I know this question has been up earlier. I've built a simple MXR/DOD phase 45, and it's phasing. I'm now ready to get it to work for real.

How do I match those FET's? Is there a cuircuit I can build for measuring or something?
Which tecnical data for the FET is most important? (what should I look for in data sheets for different FET's)

I used two BF245A just for testing, and these work, but are not matched and of coarse the unit doesn't sound well. I know there should be 2N5953 or
2N5952 but I've not found them any place (I'm in Europe).

    Any one?

hi, check out R.G. Keen's GEO(gtr. efx. oriented site). IIRC there was something there about FET matching plus MXR Phaser-related information.

And don't assume that any sound problems are caused by this potential mis-match. It is possible, but it could be totally unrelated.

Thanks a lot. I found the article that explains most of it.

Of coares not, but in this case it can't be very much else, I've got an original DOD to compare with.
