building a zvex SHO clone, is there anything I should know about the mosfet?

Found a schematic that shows a BS170 transistor. Looking at Newark there are several to choose from. Is there anything I should know before ordering them?

This is the one I selected just because it was first on the list. I know very little about transistors and zero about mosfets.

Something you should know?

Yes. MosFets are static sensitive, so don't wear phentex slippers and drag your feet across shag rugs. They're reasonably hardy, but the trick in early stages of pedal-building is to provide yourself with assurances that some sources of potential non-functioning can be safelyruled out, such that you can focus your attention on those few things that might still matter.

So, just to be able to say "It's not that", when the inevitable troubleshooting happens, install a socket and insert the BS170 into the socket once everything is soldered up.

I'm in Florida and it doesn't usually get dry enough to have problems with static (I think?). I never get a charge from touching objects like I have in other climates, fwiw.
