  • question about Menatone circuits

I spoke to an electronics tech today that said the Menatone pedals use an interesting bias configuration with common jfets but he couldn't remember it well enough to draw it or describe it. Does anyone out there know what is going on inside these things? I played a 6 knob KOTB today and I was really impressed. I've also been told that the Blue Collar is similar but simpler and extremely usable but I've never heard one.

Looks like cascaded JFETS with amp-style tone controls. You could fool around with http://runoffgroove.com/englishchannel.html. The biasing isn`t super special, trimpots.

Thanks- I asked the question before I researched it much. Looks like a neat way to create gain. I think it's time to build some new pedals and see how they sound.
