  • Ibanez UE400 multi-fx... chip...

I just got a broken UE400 Ibanez multi effect unit. It looks really cool, it's pretty old, and has the stomp switches like the old pedals. Anyway, the 1st little op amp right after the input jack is burnt, it's labeled 6552. I see a cross for an NTE778a, but I was wondering if I could use just a TL072 or jrc4558 chip since I have those laying around. Also, have any of you heard one of these things?

Well, I beat you guys to it. I was digging through my scratch box and actually found a 778a, God knows what it came out of, but it worked and fixed the unit. Pretty neat old thing btw. The overdrive part sounds like a tube screamer.

That's because it is a tube screamer...

I sold one a week ago, it was ibanez's TS9 series pedals all in rack box.

Yup. Ironically, for a while there, you could buy vintage UE400s cheaper than you could buy vintage TS9s.

The AN6552 is a plain vanilla dual op-amp, easily replaced with ANY 4558.
