  • simple footswitch help

    hello from prague,
i have a simple question about wiring up a simple non latching on off footswitch. i have alot of 3pdt switches so i was wondering if someone had a little time to sketch out a diagram as to how to connect the 3pdt to a mono jack. i'll be adding an led as well.
basically,i need a boss fs5-L type switch to switch between modes on my boss sd-2.
i know this is probably a bone-head question as ive true bypassed ALOT of effects but im not sure how to wire up a 3pdt for a simple on off switch.
    i appreciate your time !
    děkuju moc! [thanks alot!]

Not sure your 3pdt will be of much use for this. What you need is a non latching switch, they are generally single throw.

hi liam, your thinking of the boss fs-5u i think. its non latching and can be used as a tap tempo switch. the fs-5l is latching and works great with the sd-2. i just dont want to buy one as they arent easy to find around here!
any diagrams as to how to wire my 3pdt to a mono jack?

That's easy, in that case. Mono jack to two wires, then inside your footswitch connect to the two connectors marked 0 in the diagram below:

        - - -
        - 0 -
        - 0 -

That works for all the 3pdt that I have here. You can check easily enough with a multimeter if it's the same for your switch.
