Would anyone have any info (good or bad ) about this echo unit? They were very popular in the 1960s.

    Hi 62strat,

what do you want to know? It was top notch at the time. Designed to match the Eminent EMT amplifier, it provided 2 additional mic inputs and 3 instrument inputs with separate volume and tone controls.
3 heads, 6 switchable delay times, magic eye (EM84).
    Schematic and data sheet attached.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Albert

      Hi Albert,
This unit has a switch for several input powers.I have 115 volts. Should I use the 110 volt or the 130 volt setting on the unit?

        Hi 62strat,

measure the heater voltage. Try both positions of the switch and see which one gets you closer to 6.3V. Should be within +/- 10%.
        115:110=1.045 (4.5% high)
        115:130=0.885 (11.5% low)

So I think the 110V position probably will be better.

        Cheers,
        Albert

I took more readings at the outlets and found some changes throughout the day.The voltage seems to go between 115 and 120 at different times during the day.Would the 130 volt setting be safer? I'm thinking with a +/- 10% that 130 might be better. As 130 - 10% =117.....110+10%=121.Sorry for the confussion but I'm no tech. I need help,God knows I need help.;^)

It won't matter much. Probably the 130V setting will be a bit easier on the tubes, but the 110V position will be safe, too.

            Cheers,
            Albert

Yes, same era, same country. Klemt was bought by Dynacord in the late 60s (I think).
They continued to produce under the Klemt name for a while, but the devices were pretty much the same internally.
For good info try www.el-me-se.de (in German). The owner of the site, Hans Ohms, is a very knowledgeable and helpful person.

It's just a (crude but beautiful) VU meter. In old radios those were used as tuning indicators.

As you play through the unit the ends of (the eye) extend to the center. The closer the ends come to each other show how much you are overdriving it .When the ends touch that is fully overdriven. I've had people stand and stare at the eye. They thought it looked so cool because it kept bounceing back and forth with every note played.

is it a recording meter or output meter? or just a cool thing to add to the unit?
