          It does click when you step on the switch. Its really the manufacturer did not address this issue when designing the circuit.

            It does make the mechanical noise when you bridge 5 to 6

              OK. Then we've found the area. SO we need to do the mod I proposed way back. "+" of cap to pin 5 of switch.

                What about the 1Meg resistor? Should i only solder the filter cap as shown?

                      You didn't do it correctly. The capacitor is shorted out with a wire. And the 1 meg resistor OMG!

                        Now the resistor is soldered and the cap wrapped. No change whatsoever. Still mechanical noise when stepping on the switch. Click image for larger version

                          Please solder the cap in. You can't expect proper results with it just laying on the contact points. I'm not sure why you wouldn't anyway?

                            Just testing before soldering the negative side of the electrolytic cap goes to ground in the lug pictured or somewhere else?

                              You have to remove the wire going from pin5 to ground. That is what nick meant about the cap being shorted out by a wire. The fix won't work if you leave that wire there.
