Dual-state leds

I remember back in the 80's when I worked for the government we had dual-state leds. Positive voltage would light them one color and negative voltage would light them another color. Now, I'm having a heck of a time finding these things. I want to use them for the indicators on my pedal-board power supply to indicate whether a particular channel (for lack of a better term) is supplying tip-pos or tip-neg output. This way, I won't fry my pedals by plugging one into the supply in the wrong mode.

I figured that Mouser or one of the big houses would have these. Well, they have tens of thousands of leds and instead of searching through all of that, I thought I'd ask here first. Does anybody here have a part number or other source info on something that might work in this capacity?

Enter "bicolor LED" onto the search window. There are two types of bucolor, two lead and three lead. You are specifying the two lead, so polarity determones color. In other LEDs, there is a common anode - or cathode - and then a separate lead for each color. SOmetimes called bi-state.

Ah-HA! Bi-Color! I searched on everything I could think of, but not that term. Again Enzo, thank you for putting me onto the right track. My pedalboard power supply project is coming along nicely. It was funny - I ordered some voltage regulators from Mouser and didn't bother to look at the pakaging. They arrived yesterday. They are so small I can barely see them! I dropped one under my bench - it's a goner. SMT technology is great and everything, but not for us weekend-warriors! I'm used to the good old TO-220 packaging. Got the right ones on order now.
