  • About Echolette NG51 Problems

    Hello Member

I get The Echolette NG51,But this machine is broken. all five pre-tubes HT not glow. I put a new one, but not glow. switch's back two lights and blue neon are shining.Trans is 6.3AVV fine. Five tubes were removed and HT4-5-9 pins were measured. It's not stable, but it seems to be AC6.3V. HT I don't know the specialty, but I can do a simple repair. What is the cause of this?
As for HT wiring, 4/5 pin and 9 pin are wired alternately for each tubes. They look original.

    Here's a schematic:

There's nothing fancy there. just a PT secondary winding for AC filament voltage. If you measured voltage at the transformer and yet tubes are not lighting up, you must have connection issues. Check all wiring from transformer to sockets. Look for bad solder joints on tube socket pins.

Thankyou Dude, When checking the wiring from 6.3ACV of the transformer, it is necessary to remove the very complicated maze part. Should I do them?

Hi Marengel, apologies for the late reply, I have been 1klm away. Can you please advise which model you have, an early gold or a late gold? The early model has a tag strip along the chassis the later has a printed circuit board.
You can measure the 6.3v on the transformer. ECC83/12AX7 are wired for 6.3v operation but are all in parallel.
The wiring around the pre-amp tubes is difficult to fault find but as you have done already(correctly) you can measure the voltage between pins 4/5 and pin 9 on any of the tubes(valves), this should be 6.3v AC.
Let me know the model and we'll go from there.
