Yes, hermetically sealed. BUT... Dust and dirty air gets sucked into the cooling vents, coats the motherboards, etc. There is really no getting around that anyway. What I have found is the dirtier they are, the more problems you have with them. Now have I seen a hard drive fail in a dusty environment? Absolutely. Have I found them fail in cleaner ones? Yes again.

But my experience is that dirt causes more failures in PCs than most other causes, and keeping a clean environment isn't that hard. A filtered enclosure is a good start. An air conditioned room is ideal.

Oh yeah, my shop computers get filthy inside with layers of fine dust. Every so often I open them up and clean them out. Right now I have three nearly identical Dell Dimension 8200-8400 desktop boxes. I bought them all used on ebay and CL for about $100 each. They're a few years old, but they serve my purposes just fine. I have XP and similar software on all three, so I can easily swap them around if needed. One big reason that I chose them is because Dell's online repair manuals are very detailed. So far, these three have all been very reliable.
