    Sorry I started it.
*Computers?* .... not in the thread title, wonder why you mention it.
*Web Browsing?* ..... well, now we are getting closer.

    Just as a reminder:
    Web Surfing for the Paranoid!
*Paranoid?* : we are talking about that

Rereading your posts looks like you wanted to talk about virus, adware and spyware instead.
Great, just mention them in the thread title and youŽll get more focused answers

Well, to keep on topic... I actually doubt that most adware and worms are slowing service down any more than the sheer tonnage of intuitive tracking being done by *mazon, *bay, *oogle, etc.

That aside, I guess I can't comment on how CRIMINAL inroads to your computers private information happen or can be avoided other than to trust in whatever LEGAL systems you use (SP and antivirus, that are gathering the same info!?!) and always install the updates. Of course THAT locks you into the scam where the updates outdate your system in short order so that you need to get a new computer in order to maintain compatibility We're ALL drinking the KoolAid.

And Juan, post #44 was tongue in cheek and didn't really need to be addressed. But it's always good to say some of this out loud in case anyone didn't get it before, so it's all good. Love your report on the hidden dot matrix for printed materials. What it means is still confusing since these dots are printed on the documents.?. If you are holding the paper with the dot matrix then you can clearly see what was printed in plain script. Are you implying that the printer is keeping track of printed script in coded form so that whatever you did can be sent during updates or other spy or add ware? If spying is the goal, why would the printer leave a trace of the activity on the actual documents? Like I mentioned, if you can see the dots you can see the figgin' print. Right?

Web surfing is web browsing, and it is in the computer category.
I web surf, on a computer, don't know how you do it.
This thread was hijacked about as far as any I've seen, multiple times!
Anyway, Maybe Manson, and Un, can go to some other forum category.
        But, hopefully not here.
I explained the thread again in post 45.
I guess no one read it, and then it got even weirder.

Tee, this is just a conversation, it wanders, if it went adrift from your expectations, the solution is simple: stop participating. Start a new thread with a more descriptive title if you want to continue the topic. But why should everyone else be forced to stop having the conversation? If your favorite radio station plays a song you don't like, you change the station, you don't demand everyone stop listening to that song.

As to Manson and Un, well how many posts did they really take up? Half a dozen out of 60 plus?

You don't like it when the amp forums are turned into the septic tank.
Why should this computer category be different?

I object when people start calling each other names and getting into arguments. I object in a long thread about a MArshall when people start inserting political comments. Not that a mention or two of taxes or whatever is toxic, but inevitably the political crap will inevitably START an argument.

That hasn't happened here. If we have a long thread about a Fender, and someone starts asking for help on his Ampeg, yes, I will suggest he start a different thread for it. I don't suggest they stop the thread. I do that because in the amp threads there is communication to consider. In this thread I don't see people getting angry, calling names, hostility.

When I start a thread, I never try to direct it, I am more interested in where it leads people and what they contribute.

If you discover anything to make us more paranoid, list it here!
                We did

On post 16 you were talking about :
                Pacemakers

Manson and UN were about focusing FBI surveillance (which is a Paranoid idea) on ourselves ... while Surfing, at least that was clearly called for in thread title. What am I missing?
I find that quite to the point

@ Chuck: the BBC called that spying, after reading the News, I corrected it to what it actually is: they are Digitally Signing your prints, sheet by sheet, with date, time and printer serial number which I guess must be searchable in some database .
So if you print and send, say, a ransom note, obviously unsigned, (or signed "V from Vengeance") , in no time they trace it to, say, Epson Color 776 printer serial # 37786381 , traceable to Wal Mart sales receipt #xxxx xxxxxxx xxxxx , dated October the 14th 2014 and paid for with VISA xxxx xxxxxx xxxx owned by Chuck H , living in 333 xxxxx street, such and such city.
So after all, yes, it ends up being spying after all.
And you canŽt deny that in Court.

Disclaimer: printers use *computers* so we are still on the proper track

PETC disclaimer (People for the Ethical Treatment of Computers): No computers were harmed during the production of this thread.

Certainly not. Whatever it may have been before, now it's complaints. If you wish to argue, you'll have to take it to that department.

In 1975 I guess it was the new groove and sound... although kids in my highschool (35 miles from NYC) had been dancing the hustle since 1972.

Forty-plus years after the fact, I can appreciate the groove and sound. But back then, the non-stop 24/7 onslaught of disco music from NYC area radio stations had become downright oppressive. One station even had a special promotion: one disco-free hour per day.

And all the jazz cats swore Herbie Mann would spend eternity in Hell for putting out that simplistic B.S....

Hey wait a minute... did you make that comment just to prolong the hijack?
