Ransomware File Recovery?

I didn't hear her outcome.
Since we are 600+ miles a part, she let a local friend work on the computers.
I hope they came to a happy ending?
Hopefully most of the ransomware era is over.
I haven't heard of any lately, except on PC Matic commercials.
Losing all you files and photos to a foreign bandit is a bad deal at best!

I took the liberty of translating the above post. Clearly spam but not seemingly malicious.?. Members IP is out of France but they're writing in German on an obviously English speaking forum. Bot? Seems likely. Though we've had real human posters do this sort of thing with forum content before. I'll probably delete this in a day unless anyone wants it to stay.

I like it. I didn't look up the physical location either so there's the possibility it's a border location that is "German" but going through an IP in France.?. These things do happen.

The link was safe. Avast is a good service and I don't figure they would be (or allow themselves to be) involved in a malware scheme intentionally or otherwise. That said...
