  • Hotmail on ipad- how?

Hi. Ive got an infuriating problem I can't sort out. I have this PC I'm writing on, hotmail open in a tab. I have a new ipad, I want to use my hotmail on it. I go to sign in, but password incorrect (weird: I know it IS correct but let's say I've forgotten it). It asks to send a code via text.. but I have no mobile/ cellphone. I ask a friend to help, sending code to them, but we can't sync up them rcving the code > emailing me, as its always 'expired' by time I put it in, then ask them again.. again.. until both exhausted & it seems just not possible like this.

All I need to do, is see my own password. IE instead of a series of black dots, is all I need to sign in on the ipad. But afaict I'm prevented from seeing it. I try to create new hotmail account, but every conceivable name (even jumbled nonsense) is "that's already taken" until Ive tried 20x & I'm exhausted so cannot create a new one. I try to reset my password, but I'm back sending friend code / expired/ ask/ send/ expired.

    Can anyone help? thanks SC

You could try typing your password somewhere where you can see it then copy and paste it to Hotmail.
I just tried that and it worked fine.

But Dave H I can't see what my password is (because its hidden). Even so, I'm sure I'm putting in the correct one on the ipad.. but it says its incorrect.

So I need to see it to double-check it (on either the PC or the ipad), so if I am putting it in incorrectly, what the correct one is.

I'm totally stumped here. I need to use the ipad's camera > to get photos on emails urgently.

      ---

Ive retried creating a new hotmail account.. & do a stupidly complex x5T76ghblahDE99blaH@etc.. & every time it says the domain/ name is used. So this isn't possible (to get a code sent to > in order to change my password on the PC, write it down/ see it > to use this on the ipad).

You'll see your password if' you type into a text editor first so you can check it's correct then copy the correct password to Hotmail. That's what I did and it works. I used 'Notepad' in Windows. I think the iPad text editor app is called 'Notes'

Crikey I have no clue what you mean by 'type into a text editor first' tho. Can you explain?

Open the "Notes" app by clicking on the "Notes" icon on your iPad homepage, Type your password there then copy and paste it to Hotmail (Outlook?)
That's what Google tells me. I don't have an iPad to check.

Id be hugely surprised if seechief is able to be used if I tried 40x of all manner of complicated names & not allowed.

The 2nd link just gets me into my outlook/ hotmail account.

I google create new outlook email account, as I can't recall where/ how to try a new address, & I see the option of "Add an email account". Right so let me try this avenue then. No.1 it says "Open Outlook and select File > Add Account." But I cannot for the life of me find "FILE" in my outlook account. Anywhere. For goodness sake man.. this is absurd.

But Dave.. I do not know my password/ this is the whole point/ why I'm stuck (if I did.. then Id have no trouble whatsoever getting into my outlook account on whatever device I'm wanting to use).

But you said this in post #3 so I thought you knew your password.

The link https://outlook.live.com/owa/ should take you Outlook on the web as below

Click image for larger version Name:	SC1.png Views:	0 Size:	857.5 KB ID:	912492

Click on Create free account and it takes you here

Type seechief where it says 'New email' as the name of your new account. Click on 'Next' and it will ask for a password to use for your new account. I just tried it again and seechief is still free.

Dave H your link (much appreciated) only gets me into my existing hotmail account which (thank goodness) is still open & not been closed down. It doesn't get me to these pages you show above.

I have a feeling the reason I wouldn't be able to use say your seechief idea, is bc I tried to log into my hotmail account (on the ipad I mean.. I already had it open on my PC) so many times with every possible tiny manifestations/ slight differences of my password -there were only 3 or so tbh, & I know 100% that one WAS the correct one anyway- that I'm locked out of being allowed to create a new acc. That's all I can think of.

I just don't seem to be able to even get onto this 'create a new hotmail email acc' page, to even try your seechief idea (but I know 99% it'd say the domain is used/ unable anyway, even if you can do it from your end).

I don't think you can log in on a second device (ipad) when you are already logged in on some other device (PC). If the account is open somewhere, it can not be opened again from somewhere else.

But I'm surprised it is giving you a 'password incorrect' message. I would think it would tell you the account is in use so not available at this time.

Hi g1.. that makes sense, but I'm sure Ive dived into my hotmail in town on the library PC's many times, whilst lazily leaving it open all day on my laptop at home. Never once I was prevented.. so I think you can actually log in on a 2nd device.

Trouble is if I try by logging out of my laptop hotmail to find out, I risk not getting back in esp if Ive tried numerous password attempts on the ipad.
