Ubuntu server forgotton password pretty important info

Lets say I have a Ubuntu server that the password has been forgotton. You have local access but not a lot of tech know how what would you do for someone over the phone.
This is important.

I don't do Ubuntu but if I wanted advice from someone familiar with the issue I would post the question at https://twit.tv/shows/ask-the-tech-guys .
There are multiple methods to post a question including voice mail, email and call in at show time.
You do not need to be a subscriber to participate. I believe that you don't even need to initiate any kind of registration.
