I ran across this working on different linux issues.
From time to time, it would be nice to reset the passwords on existing computers with lost passwords.
It is not unusual to load new linux, and login password not be, what you think it is.
With this method, you could reset the password, without having to reload the linux OS.
This works better than I thought it would.
You need to be able to load live Ubuntu from USB.
The grub method I skipped, and used the Live CD or USB method.
