  • Help! My Emg Active Humbucker don't work!

The preamp of my emg81 seem to not working. I accidently supplied it to -18 Volts! After that... dead. Is there something I can do?

18v will not damage an EMG (they are rated to 27v)
    Something else is wrong.

Well If I'm not mistaken he said minus 18 volts. I would hope they have reverse polarity protection, but they might not.

If the preamp is fried there isn't anything you can do about it.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

        The official word from EMG:

"-9vdc will not hurt an EMG active pup. -18vdc will in fact fry it. He’ll have to replace the pup."

The support and customer service at EMG has been unparalleld
        ^5 to the EMG peeps!
