  • P90s hummmmmmm

I have PRS SE Soapbar 2 guitar. The pickups have a hum that is always there. The hum goes away when I select both pickups. That tells me the pickups are reversed from each other winding wise. The resistance of each pickup is 8.6 k. I have resoldered everything and ohmed out the wires to the jack. I know these aren't the greatest pickups but I dont think they should hum like this. Is this problem repairable or should I buy new pickups? Thanks
    in advance.

P90's hum like there's no tomorrow, unless you have a reverse wound/reverse polarity set like you have in your PRS, and then you can use the mid position for quiet tones.

P90's sound great, but they hum. Fact of life. Gibson once made P100's, which were stacked-coil versions, and they sucked really bad.

DiMarzio's Virtual P90 sounds pretty close to a real P90, with no hum. Doesn't look like one though.
