  • Peavey six string

I have a peavey fury VI. Six string bass. sweet bass for such a cheap price. But the blend pot was dirty, tried cleaning it with no results. So I replaced it. I tested it out after installing the new pot, the volume is now half of what it used to be. I played with it for a few hours and the volume slowly got lower and lower until, now i have no output at all. I've tried different batteries checked all my connections everything is fine. The pot i replaced it with was a 250k, same as the original. I emailed peavey asking for a schematic of the preamp haven't gotten an answer yet. When i do, i'll post the schematic. Any suggestions?

Also I thought this could make for a good project. Build my own preamp but if i can repair it in the mean time that would be sweet. So suggestions on preamp schematics would be appreciated as well! I need 1 vol 1 blend, and a 3 band eq. The pickups are active, two big soap bar pickups. Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,
    Dan.

There are different kinds of blend pots and they have to wired up the right way. You can wire them up two different ways, and both look correct, but the taper is what's different, and if you wire it the wrong way it will cause a big drop in level. Some of them don't work very well either.

I use the MN taper pots from GuitarJones and follow this wiring exactly:

You have to watch where each deck has the ground connected.

(the image is from Stew-Mac, but don't use their blend pot, the taper is wrong)
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
