  • building a varitone circuit...

Hi guys and gals, new here and have been doing some internet research concerning the varitone switch...I need some help with a visualisation of how to wire the switch itself with mini transformer and caps (positions for attachment and off position). I am probably going for a 1/6 rotary. 6positions in total including the off (off, .001, .002, .01, .02, .047).
Any visual help will be appreciated, many thanks...

The first position bypasses the switch. Then for position 2, you solder one end of the cap to the switch, and the other end goes to the inductor and then to ground. Each free end of each cap ties together and then to the inductor.

Or you can do it the other way around like Craig Anderton did in Electronic Projects for Musicians.

Here's the Anderton and Gibson versions.

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
