  • 2 Tele PUs, 5-way switch

    Hi again,

This is driving me crazy. Can't seem to find a schematic or diagram to connect two Tele Texas Specials up with a 5-way switch. This switch has 8 lugs...four on each side of the wafer.

I have an Acme schem that shows a switch with 10 lugs...5 on each side...and they can get back, parallel and front, with an added series. Actually...it calls that a 4-way switch....so...

Anyone know where there's a diagram to use an 8-lug, 5-way switch, with perhaps an added feature...like series..or even two features? Even if I left one end position unused, that could just be a kill switch?

I drew out a table of continuity with switch position, but can't seem to wrap my feeble mind around what to do with it.

For instance, starting at one end, spring side left...switch away from me calling that position 1...I called the outside lug 1, down to 4, went back up the other side (spring side), and went from 5 down to 8.

    Position 1= Lugs 1,4
    Position 2= Lugs 1,3,4 & 6,7,8
    Position 3= Lugs 1,3 & 6,8
    Position 4= Lugs 1,2,3 & 5,6,8
    Position 5= Lugs 1,2 & 5,8

    Can't make sense of it.

If anyone has an idea, it would be appresicated. i was hoping to try to get at least one extra sound...or I may just have to get a normal 3-way and call it good.

    Thanks,

    Brad1

      Thanks Mark,

Looks like that Anderton scheme may be interesting!

        Tele 5-way schematic

I have seen a few schematics for a 5-way switch on a Tele but nothing seems to match what I am looking for. I have a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge position and a standard single-coil in the neck position. I have the Hot Rails tapped with a switch, but what I would like to do is use a 5-way switch and run my configuration this way:

        Position
        1 Neck-single coil
        2 Neck-humbucking
3 Neck and bridge - neck single coil
4 Neck and bridge - neck humbucking
        5 Bridge

Anyone seen anything like this before?

            Tele wiring...

I found that, too. I also found another site that has a lot of options.
