Wood grain filler

I was wondering if it was possible to use regular wood filler as a wood grain filler

Well in what way way would you be using it? Will it be seen or covered by paint etc?

It will be covered with paint, i was just wondering if using normal filler will fill the wood grain enough to not be noticed when it is painted

It would work but it would be more work than just using a grain filler. I have found the best way to fill grain is to use a primer surfacer and sand it back till it is all filled.

Thats a good idea, i would rather put in a coulpe hours more hard work and save a couple of quid on postage and packaging.
