  • Scratchy tone knobs

Whenever I turn my tone knobs I get static unless i touch something metal on the guitar such as the strings, tuning knobs, etc.. Is this a grounding issue?

    Static cling

Can you supply a name & model of the amp.
Is this a winter, dry heat thing?
    It may be static.

If you get noise, hum, interference when you *grab* your knob, turn it or not, it's a grounding problem.
Anyway, you should always be touching some metallic part of your guitar, to ground yourself to it.
If a scratchy noise appears only while you turn the pot, you have a very dirty one.
