  • Guitar Volume Pot

Hello everyone, I recently re-soldered the cable of my gtr to the volume pot which came loose earlier and at first i thought everything was working fine. However, when i plugged in my boss (the weapon) pedal, the volume of the effects go down (almost as if the signal becomes significantly weaker) and all the effects from the pedal are barely heard unless the amp goes on 10 and the pick-ups on the guitar are set to the mid tone (even then the distortion and effects from the pedal still arent as strong as they use to be) ...and no, i did not forget to turn up the pedals volume

So if anyone can plz shed some light on this for me, i would really appreciate it!

How does it sound straight into the amp?

it sounds brand new when its just straight into the amp.
when its through the pedal though, the volume of the guitar decreases and all the fx that i use no matter what setting sound faded out as if somethings blocking off the sound or something.

How does a different guitar sound through your pedals?
Is the power supply to the pedals good? Is there a bad interconnect lead?

unfortunately i dun have another gtr to run through the pedal with. As with the connections, they're all secure.
I was thinking maybe i didn't wrap enough wire around the terminal on the volume pot when i was re-wiring but then if that was the case, then i would be able to hearing a fuzz with the guitar even without without the pedal. Is it possible that it may be something wrong with the inner wirings of the guitar that i couldve messed up while soldering?

From what you describe I don't think there's anything wrong with your guitar.
If the guitar works ok plugged into the amp, then we know that the guitar, THAT lead, and amp are good.
The problem would seem to be regarding your effects (eg battery /power supply gone bad) or interconnection lead.

well if it is the pedal, i can't imagine why it since I just got it a month ago and it just stays home. I tried hooking it to another outlet and its still gives off the same problem so its now the power supply and i didnt drop it or anything. What could be wrong with it?

btw way thx pdf64 for helping out

So faulty gtr wiring wouldn't be a potential cause for this at all right?

Can the Pedal run on batteries? if so, you might try a fresh set.
Also, does it have more than 1 output? (mine has an out for recording, out for
amp, 2nd out for stereo channel, as well as 2 inputs (CD/line and guitar)) If it
does, you might want to try a different output.

                Hope this helps,
                R
