  • Tone pot on LP Special bridge

    Hello,
Just joined today. Got an issue with tone pot on my LP Special, after replacing microphonic bridge p/u (P-100). I don't remember heating this pot at all. It gets muddy at it's full position, but clears up by rolling it back from 10 to 9. Going to replace it, but I was wondering if the pots should be rolled to the off position before soldering? Would this prevent future issues of the same kind?
Or maybe it was just timing.......
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forum.
It should not matter what position the pot wiper is in. When heating ground connections make sure you have enough heat from your iron to do it fast. You don't want to sit there with a soldering iron that won't get hot enough while your cooking the pot. The back of the pot acts as a heatsink so you need enough wattage to make a shiny solder connection, the quicker the better.
