  • Newby seeking help- Volume pot/wiring issue

My first instrument. Strat with Fralin Blender pot, treble bleed circuit. Fender Tex-Mex pickups. Everything seems to work fine except volume control does not work. I detect a slight change in timbre when swept toward zero, but no change in volume (assume from bleed circuit). Schematic used was the one posted on Lindy Fralin site. I have checked continuity and did not find any bad solder connections. Would love any help I can get in solving this- hope I've provided enough details.

Not being a d!ck but something is wrong. Looking at the pot from the back does the right leg read grounded?

Of course omething is wrong, and no, you're not being a dick. Yes, it is reading grounded. I re-soldered the connections to the V pot, will update if any change. I've rewired strats before, so I have some soldering experience as far as copying the exact circuit, but know ZERO about electronics in general. This is my first attempt at wiring from scratch, so I'm certain I did something wrong. I use the volume control extensively in my playing so I have to figure this out- hoping some experts can help. If not, if anyone knows a competent tech in Charlotte NC area please let me know!

Do you have the volume pot connected to ground? Also make sure you solder a ground wire between each pot and the output jack. Don't rely on the control plate to ground everything.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
