  • Circuit Advice On Strat Active Device

I ordered an onboard active device on ebay.
Here is the wiring diagram they sent with it...

Here is how I wired it...

I'm getting no sound and I haven't gotten a response fro them yet.
Just checking here to see if someone detects an error on my part.

    Thanks

Can you post the whole instructon?
All that I see is a piece of it.
From what I can gathet, you remove the exizting output wire from the output jack.
Then you attach that wire to there preamp.
The output jack, as shown, has contacts to close trhe battery ground wire when a cable plug is inserted.
The red battery wire is always connected.
    Recheck your work.

I would start, by chasing the battery and ground with a volt meter.
You may have an open ground, since the jack closes the ground, and the battery is always on like mentioned above. If you can read bat. & grd with plug in, pull the plug, and it should open the circuit.

It looks from the diagram that you have the out:ground:in:B+ wires back to front.

That's it, you can slide that over near the bottom of the post.

Pretty sure I have it exactly as they suggest.
              Maybe I got a dud...

                Hmmm....
What if the diagram is right and the board is marked wrong?

(That would mean Sock Puppet is right....)

It can't be said what's wrong and what's right without the circuit schematics.....

I think you definitely need a word of advice from the manufacturer...

                  For sure.
Assuming they have it right, I was just checking my work.
                  Still waiting on them...

Dug around on my day off today and found a competitor with the same product.
(Used the name on the back of the board.)
                    Competitor had this wiring diagram...

                    Works perfectly.
                    Sounds decent too.

                      Aha!

                      Glad you made it!

                      Enjoy!

                      Cheers

                        Thanks.

I must say, I really wasn't expecting this to be as good as it is.
I've read a bit about it, but not much, online and no one really raved about it.

It is better than many half-decent Boss and other run of the mill pedals I've owned.
It's even as good or better than some I've modded that were quite usable.

What I like best is that you can crank up the gain little by little and use your volume pot
to control just the volume, the gain stays up completely.
Most pedals boast "Cleans up nicely when you turn down your volume pot"
For me, this is much more useful. I can dial up lots of overdrive and back the volume off
enough to not crowd the stage with volume, but keep the sizzle and cut through for leads.

Plus it eliminates a pedal and is hard wired.
Battery is supposed to last 3000 hours.
Very good tool in my book.
