  • wiring tone pot help

so i bougt this 500k audio taper mini pot to replace the old one that had broke on me, and i have already put it in exactly the way the other one was. now when i originally opened the guitar there was a loose "blue" wire that i am not sure exactly where it goes. you can find pictures here:

there are 2 blue wires one goes from the 5 way switch to the bottom of the tone pot the other is coming from the bottom of the volume pot this os the one that is loose now the volume pot on my guitar looks kida wierd to me on of the lugs on the volume pot is bent back touching the bottom of the pot like a ground i guess. should the other pot be similar to that one because it originally wasnt

this is the wiring diagram for my guitar not the exact one but the closest i found

also my guitars 5 way is different from that diagram it a switch similar to the "import" switch in this photo

    Google Image Result for http://www.deaf-eddie.net/drawings/5-ways.jpg

i included a paint diagram i made. the "blue" wire going from the switch to the bottom of the tone pot does not touch any of the lugs ont the tone pot. so far the tone knob doesent seem to be making a difference in tone when moved all the way up or down.., so if anybody might know where this blue wire might go please let me know this is the only thing keeping me from shredding on this guitar. thank you.

I can't really tell where the other end of the blue wire connects.
Your wiring cavity is pretty busy.
It could be a ground wire between the vol. & tone pots.
It may be a ground for the bridge.
It may be the hot wire that goes between the tone and vol pots.
Here's a SD wiring diagram, you can compare it to.

May I suggest that you shorten some of the wires.
Don't make them real tight, but not as slack as you have them now.
Shortening and resoldering the wires will also make the guitar less noisey.
Check that out, and tell us what you come up with.
