Loose Turning Truss Rod

Hey all,

I currently having a look at a friend's bass, where the neck has serious forward bow. I have tried adjusting the truss rod, but it seems to be turning all too easy. The neck did straighten out a bit but as soon as i re tuned the strings, the front bow came back as it was. Maybe i'm doing it wrong, but I think the truss rod might be broken and the neck needs to be replaced.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, either the nut is stripped or the rod is broken.
Seeing that you had some adjustment it is probably the nut.
Bummer.
A new neck or a luthier.

Thanks thats what I thought but wanted to make sure before i buy a new neck
