  • Bourns Pot Suppliers?

Looking for a place to buy the Bourns Friction Free Pots at a good price?
Preferrably without having a dealer discount.
I'm building Loaded PickGuards with my Pickups, and looking for a place to buy Good Quality Pots and Switches?
Without Having to rob a bank everytime I build one.
    Any Suggestions?

Keep in mind that the low friction pots sold as the EVH seem to be the exact same thing as the regular Bourns guitar pots.

You can also get them from Mouser:

Like Dave, I purchase them from Mouser. The only issue you will find is that the supplied hex nuts are a smaller outside dimension than those supplied with CTS.

Yeah, those nuts and washers they use are tiny! I wonder why?

Beats me! I just have to get used to grabbing a different nutdriver. My guess is that they are just plain cheaper. Money seems to drive everything nowadays, doesn't it?

That's OK though, as I DO tend to prefer these pots lately. I e-mailed Mouser to request carrying them in other values besides 250K and 500K, because I'd like to use them in amps as well. Also, 1M would come in handy for guitars on occasion. The fact that you can order them in different shaft, bushing and terminal configurations is pretty cool though, as well as long-life premium versions.

I was thinking that the other day! I'd also like to find the dual pot version of the push/pull in other values. I need them in 50k, and Bourns makes them, but no one stocks them!

Dave, check out this place in NJ for custom pots: Potentiometer.com Stock and Custom Potentiometers

I had them do a custom dual 1MA/10KL pot for me for the amp design that I build. Good people to deal with, and faster than waiting for Mouser to carry more values. BTW- that e-mail to Mouser was close to a year ago, and no dice.

I have been to their web site many times, and I remember going to State Electronics years ago. I had someone tell me they wouldn't make a concentric pot, even though they list them, so I never got around to calling them. So I will give them a call. I need a few different kinds of pots for a few projects.
