  • Reliced Guitar Finishes

    Hello,
I have assembled a guitar using an Epiphone Les Paul Special 2 body and a Warmoth neck. I used the bridge pickup which I split and added a 5 position 4 pole switch. It really looks great with the Paul body and fender style neck (24 3/4 scale). In order for the neck to fit I had to remove the wood between the neck pocket and the neck pickup. I cleaned it up using a pick guard I made in the Les Paul JR style.
My problem at this point is the poly finish. I have seen on another forum how to dull the finish. I would also like to do a light relic job to it, I just cannot find pictures of any JR's that have road worn or any original finishes that have scuffs and scratches from being handled for years.
Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated!!!

I use a really fine grade of Scotchbrite ... then buff up again with T cut to restore some ... but not all of the shine. It's easy with the Scotchbrite to go right through the finish on heavy wear areas. Here's a Tele I did a while back
