  • help wiring dual humbucker with 2-conductor wires

Can anyone point me to or supply a wiring diagram for a 2-conductor dual humbucker setup with 2 volume and 2 tone pots?

Each humbucker has a red, white, and ground wire. This is on a 1970s Memphis LP copy that is not wired correctly and has frozen vol pots.

Thanks for the reference but that one shows 4-conductor and 1-conductor wiring. My pickups have 2-conductors (red & white) + one ground wire.

You need to determine how the pickup is wired.
If you have a DMM(Digital Multimeter) that reads Ohms?
Set the meter to read Kilohms.
Read between the white and red wires in Kilohms.
Read between the ground wire and the white, and red wires one at a time.
Report back what you find, and I can tell you how to wire it to the guitar.
Probably the ground wire is just a shield ground.
Probably the pickup coils are wired to the white and red wire.
        Good Luck,
        T

          Neck
          R to W = 5.8K ohms, R to bare = 11.7K ohms, W to bare = 5.9K ohms

          Bridge
          R to W = 5.9K ohms, R to bare = 12.0K ohms, W to bare = 6.1K ohms

          Thanks! Mark

            OK, sounds great.
The White wire is the Coil tap.
So if you are wiring plain Humbucker no tap?
            Tape up the white wire.
Then use the 1 wire hookup of the Seymour duncan layout.
Red being the one wire and the bare being the grounded shield.
If you want a PAF like Neck, this Over Wound Pickup will probably not deliver.
If you want a different neck, either buy a low wind neck, or have yours rewound.
            Good Luck,

Awesome, thanks! I need to order a pair of replacement volume pots as they are both frozen. Any recommendations on where to order from?

              Thanks, Mark

Also don't discard your old pots, if they are the old ones that came in the guitar.
I would possibly replace them, but I would also try to pop the cans and see if you can repair them.
If the old pots have date codes on them, they can make the guitar worth more if you can keep them with the guitar.
