  • Bad/broken effect loop send jack.

I have a marshall JCM2000 DSL 50 and today when I powered it up to play there was no sound coming out of my speaker cab. So I checked all the connections because I have it going into a rack and all the connections were solid, so next I checked the connections from the amp and found that the sleeve of my effects send jack was cracked it was broken off. Would this cause a dissruption in the signal flow and cause this problem where there would be no sound coming from the speaker? If anyone read's this and can offer any advise I would be most grateful...thank's.

the (preamp to power amp) signal goes thru the send return jacks, whether you use them or not.
the jacks have switches which open close when you plug unplug effects units...
so if the jack is broken, the switch may not close, and the signal will be interrupted...the amp will have no sound.
replace the jacks, or try a patch cord, between send and return.
Plugging a guitar cable between send and return jacks will often bypass the bad jack connection.
Then the amp will work again.
