Help me diagnose guitar hum/buzz

    looking at this:

    if the computer is plugged into the wall (back in my apartment), the hum is very loud. It's quieter when I touch the strings
    plus the shock, could those be indicative of loose or non-connected neutral to earth connection (back at the breaker or where the power comes in)?

      I have added a ground to a 2 prong outlet by running a ground wire clamped to a copper or galvanized cold water pipe. Not as good as sinking an 8 foot copper grounding rod into dirt but that is usually not an option living in an apartment. NOT APPLICABLE IN INDIA!

      EDIT I just checked wikipedia and AC outlets in India are 230 volts. They use 3 different style receptacles, one of which is 2 prong (an accident waiting to happen!) I would check with apt manager to see if your unit can be refitted with 3 prong outlets for safety reasons. You might want to first see if other units in your building have 3 prong outlets...
