Steve Klein’s Do-It-Yerself fret bending machine from LMII

LMII sells full-scale plans to build your own Steve Klein Do-It-Yerself fret bending machine for $5.90 (stock #PL 16) plus s/h ($8.50 so I would suggest adding it to an existing order.)

I located the special parts called for in the plans at Amazon for about $12 and you will need to get some nuts, bolts and washers at the hardware store.***

P.S. Plans call for a 4 - 1/2" x 4 - 1/2" aluminum plate but I plan to have the local plastics fabricator make me one.

*** Nuts and bolts:
1 - 5/16" x 1" bolt & jam nut (3/16" thick)
2 - 1/4" x 1" bolts, nut, flat and lock washers
3 - Fender washers:
-> (2) 1 - 1/2" dia.
-> (1) 1 - 1/4" dia. with 5/16" hole
1 - Wood base (optional) 1" x 2" x 7" approx. w/ 2 wood screws
(alternately bender can be held in vise)

The nuts and bolts cost about $2.50 and the fabricated 1/4" plastic was $10. Total cost in materials about $25 plus $5.90 for the plans. (I think that LMII should sell a package with the required nuts, bolts and washers to save time for customers and avoid heavy markup on single items vs 100 lots.)

I posted about this previously (Fall 2014!) but I had misplaced the plans, thinking that they were in a larger manila envelope. Eureka! I found the plans last night and I'm going ahead with the project 18 months later.

Gotta get better organized, gotta get better organized! I think I'd lose my head if it wasn't firm implanted up my ass...
