  • How do the mini-hb mounting rings work?

These look like the ones that fit into a P-90 rout like on a 70's LP Deluxe. Allparts sells them, but I have no idea how you are supposed to secure them to the guitar. (I had made my own, cutting P-90 covers with my Dremel, but to mount them in the guitar I used hot melt glue- not exactly the best solution if you were to tour in Arizona! LOL)

Here's a link to the page:

    Thanks!

the pickup and ring are assembled as one unit. The 'height' adjustment screws do not adjust the pickup in the ring, but adjust the whole ring/pickup assembly by raising/lowering into/out of the guitar body, kinda like P-90 soapbars. the adjustment screws thread into body mounted inserts, or into a plate mounted at the bottom of the pickup rout.

The mini-hum is kept at a predetermined height within the ring by the use of a standoff, and is permanently mounted in the ring by the use of a soldered nut on the bottom of the pickup legs.

Thanks for a very clear explanation! Now I guess I can retire my hot melt glue gun...

EDIT The rings from Allparts do not include the backing plate so I guess you would want to sink a threaded insert (or nut) into the wood under the ring. Or maybe one of the boutique winders makes the plates...?

I've pondered this meself, but I just can't discard the 90's. Even though I'd love to
have a Firebird thing goin' on.
