"Vintage Clone Parts" anyone heard of them

anyone heard of this outfit elsewhere (besides here in Japan)?

(I have nothing to do with them but just stumbled across the site.) Apparently, their claim is that they have made more exact recreations of vintage parts using new molds, tooling, etc.

looks like some good stuff but they are in japan saw the nylon saddles what would be great is a set of lp saddles with bone inserts factory made but guess i will just have to make my own

A tech that I know in L.A. swears by the stuff. He claims the plastic parts affect the sound.

of corse it affects the sound have you ever tried to hollow out a set of strat saddles and fit little pieces of bone or ebony in there it is somthing different but it is a personal thing it is not for every body

I also I find that most "relic" guitar bodies looks pretty non-believable. I wish there was someone who got it right.

it does say the cases and caps are USA made

If they are doing vintage Gibson, than the nylon saddles are correct. My ES-330TD had them, as well as my EB-2. Many people switched them for metal saddles. I made aluminum saddles for my EB-2.

Why do people want beat up looking guitars? I own and have owned many vintage axes, and they don't look like that. And they are well played. Some Fenders have the finish wear off under your forearm. It's the guitars that were not taken care of that look like that, and after a while all the mint guitars were in the hands of collectors, so the junk ones are all that was left!

I swear this whole "relic" thing got started when someone at Gibson or Fender had a bunch of scratched guitars they didn't know what to do with!

Interestingly, "relic" means obsolete.

relics seem to sell right now
just the current fad like almost bare wood bodys with just oil and paste wax were popular years back
if it sells do it thats my opinion
