Ok, so a friend asked me to take a look at an electric guitar, something is wrong with it electronically. It's an old guitar (he says from the 70's). On the headstock it says "Acoustic". I cannot find any model numbers on it at all. It has a bolt on neck and what look to be p90 type pickups with Gibson style controls (four pots, one three position switch). I'd like to find out more about the guitar, but the sadistic jerks named their guitar company "Acoustic". Yes, I have wasted a lot of time googling that. Anyone ever heard of that brand of guitar? It definitely doesn't look homemade.

Yeah, it was made by Acoustic Control Corporation. They are best known for making amplifiers, like the Acoustic 360 used by Jaco Pastorious.
That's probably a Black Widow guitar. They were designed by Paul Barth, who designed guitars for Rickenbacker.

yup, that's the guitar. Appreciate your insights, as it's nice to know what I am working on. That's a pretty obscure guitar, you obviously know your stuff. They were serious about shielding, since the control cavity has a fairly heavy gauge brass shell inside it. Seems to be reasonably well made (that's a real carved top), though the details (binding, finish around nut, etc) are just so-so. Wierdest thing for me is that the neck only appears to have two screws holding it to the body. I don't know that I've ever seen that before. Can't wait to hear this thing, because if nothing else it's unique. At any rate, thanks again! In the future I invented time travel.
